I found you can buy threaded rods pretty cheat at Home Depot. They are about 5 bucks for a 5/8 in rod 36 inches long.
I’ve considered those, but:
– they come in 6′ lengths (which I suppose I can get cut down)
– they didn’t look very straight, when I saw them in the store
– I wasn’t sure if the pitch was the same on those as on the designs – and I’m also not sure if it matters. Pitch is the distance between threads.
So I’ll need to investigate more to determine if those will work.
